GROOVES
machined into the braking surface of the disc they act to 'clean' (deglaze) the surface of the pad, removing the glazed surface that builds up during the high temperatures experienced under heavy braking. The grooves provide channels for the removal of gases that are produced during heavy braking. It is this cushion of gas that forms between disc and pad that causes brake 'Fade'. The grooves are also said to play a part in the removal of brake dust /. particles and cooling of the disc |
